Board Meeting Minutes - May 5, 2022

Board Members in attendance: Keith Valentyn, Mel Canfield, Tim Mathre, Brian Schultz, Tim Clark, Pete Degrood

Cormorant Management: Mel C

The USDA harvested 1,300 birds. The harvesting cost was $5,300.

Aquatic Weed Harvesting: Tim M

Applications have been submitted to the DNR for the open water pathway systems on both Cannon and Wells Lakes. The board approved the following fees for this June’s harvest. We have received 22 payments for Lakefront Property harvesting and 24 payments for Open Water harvesting.

We would like to see everyone that lives in the west bay of Cannon Lake to assist in this project with either a $250 Open Water option or a separate donation to help fund the pathway from Warsaw to Cooks Point.

The cost to harvest the pathway system is $10,400 and so far we have received $6,000.

Option 1: $635 - $35 DNR application fee plus $600 harvesting fee

Lakefront property plus pathway which would include a 5,000 square foot area in front of your dock.

Option 2: $250

Pathway to Cooks Point - This would create a pathway from approximately 100 feet from shore out to Cook Point plus a pathway from Warsaw to Cooks Point.

Option 3: Donation

Make a donation to help with the $25,000 cost of the project. This would help in keeping a path open from Cooks Point to Warsaw.

Checks should be made out to: CWLA and mailed to:

PO Box 64 Warsaw, MN 55087

Your harvesting fees can be paid by check or on Venmo using the lake association's email address: cwlakeassoc@gmail.com.

2022 Membership Dues: Board discussion

2022 Cannon Wells Lake Association dues for 2022 are set at $50. An email will go out the week of April 18th with information about due payment options Your dues can be paid by check or on Venmo using the lake association's email address: cwlakeassoc@gmail.com.

Checks should be made out to: CWLA and mailed to:

PO Box 64 Warsaw, MN 55087

Buoy Markers: Brian S & Tim M

We will make an effort to extend the buoy from Warsaw as far into the lake as possible. Brain is getting the cost for additional buoys. We will be sending out information regarding sponsoring a buoy once we have the cost. Your name would be placed on the buoy you are sponsoring.

The board approved the purchase of additional small white buoys to mark the harvesting pathways. This will help the harvesting company stay on the pathway and if boats use these pathways it should slow the regrowth of weeds.

CWLA Benefit: Board discussion

The Channel Inn & Doc’s Doc have offered to host our 2nd annual fundraiser. The date will be July 16th. Please think about items you could donate to the silent auction.

CWLA finances: Tim M

The association is using ZOHO to create and email invoices for harvesting and dues. This system also created finance reports. The financial reports will be posted to the website at www.cwlakes.com after the collection of 2022 association dues and harvesting fees is completed.

The board voted to automatically email invoices for 2022 dues to everyone on Cannon and Wells lakes. We have just under $20,000 in projects already committed for 2022. It will take everyone’s help to fund these projects.

The board voted to add Tim Mathre to the association's bank account.

A motion was made and approved by the board to adjourn the meeting.
